2022 Global stainless steel production dropped by 5.0% from last year's same period in the first quarter

Recently, the World Stainless Steel Association released statistics on global stainless steel production in the first quarter of 2023. Data shows that in the first quarter, global crude stainless steel production was 13.66 million tons, a decrease of 5.0% from the previous quarter.

Specifically, in the first quarter,the output of stainless steel in Europe was 1.637 million tons, an increase of 8.9% from the previous quarter and a decrease of 12.0% from the same period last year.The United States was 0.478 million tons, an increase of 11.5% from the previous quarter, and a year-on-year decrease of 16.0%; China's stainless steel production was 8.273 million tons, down 2.9% month-on-month and up 4.1% year-on-year., accounting for 60.56% of global production; the output in Asia (China and South Korea) was 1.631 million, down 8% and 16.6% month-on-month; other countries (Brazil, Russia , South Africa, South Korea, Indonesia) output increased to 1.646 million, an increase of 11% from the previous month and a decrease of 19.8% from the previous month.
